Spain

Last week I was in Spain. The trip was between Feb 14th to Feb 19th and the purpose of the trip was to attend Mobile World Congress-2011. I would rate the overall experience quite high as I had a chance to interacts with many great people driving the telecom industry. I will express more about Spanish visit and many interesting anecdotes in my next blog. - Adios : )

Wikipedia-10 in Tokyo

It's been three days that I posted my name as the organizer for Wikipedia-10. I have received an overwhelming response from people of diverse backgrounds. The next task is to chalk out a plan and create an agenda so that event is organized successfully.

Bravo Nitish Kumar

Tinka tinka jod ke sanse kyo hanfti si nav hae ter nav hae teri...kay ab kuchh kar ja rey bandey!

I read that Nitish Kumar won three-fourth majority in Bihar. This news is one of those feelings which gives an eternal joy--I can't think of a better word at 1 AM. The news brings a lot of hopes to the optimists--the eternal optimists--like my elder brother.

A beautiful evening

It's a beautiful evening with dark clouds all around. I wish I were in India or I had my friends shipped to Japan. Life has become a bag full of boredom. I want to get over this GMAT ghost. The last week's test was pretty encouraging but yesterday's test almost made me cry. It's been over an year, not dedicately though, with GMAT hovering over my head. I do understand that such tests are made to bring the best out of the prospective candidates. But is it worth of a sacrifice missing all the simple pleasures of life just for the sake of future, I am optimistic that it would be worthy of it.

May God strengthen all the GMAT aspirants!

Lesson

Continuing from my last post, yes both Phil and I passed the test, he score 3 percent higher though. On a different note, I had read this thing somewhere that Chinese have the same Kanji (word representation) for 'Crisis' and 'Opportunity'. So, I asked my Sensei (Japanese teacher) about that and she drew both the Kanjis for me. Both of these Kanjis are remarkably similar except for the fact that order of the representation is different. So I am convinced that its only the order (or perception) that turns a Crisis in an Opportunity and vice versa. 

I would have been a factory worker

Phil and I are in the same group in our Japanese class. Phil is a Canadian and an English teacher by profession. We have lot of fun during our class. Today during the break, I told him that I am working on my English these days. He said very funnily that his strengths are: being a native English speaker and having a charming personality; and that if he would not have born in Canada, he would have been a factory worker in some other country. Some expressions are so idyllic that makes you laugh. 

JLPT result is about to come and I hope that both of us will pass it.

Jagmohan Uncle

Physics:

Anyone who was tall was labelled by us as 'Jagmohan Uncle.' He used to be very popular among us as kids. He is a stereotypical desi guy. Tall, slender, hardworker, socially active. He is Kurta-Pyjama fan. I have never seen him trying any other attire. I'm sure he would make Mr. Bachchan envy if he wears a suit.

Geography:

He is a famer by inheritance, but he works as a peon in an institute called 'Training Center'. His designation has nothing to do with his personality and aura. My father has also worked for the same institue. The good thing about this place was its location -- riverside, very open and spacious. And the bad thing about this place was -- its location -- so isolated, and frightening at times, when you happen to be there at night.

Psyche:

He's a very genuine guy. Most of his life he has woken up in the wee hours of the day -- around 3.30 AM, though thats not the only reason. After that he use to go to his farm, start tubewells, milk his buffaloes, and all the morning errands. Now, thats typical of an Indian farmer. What differentiates Jagmohan Uncle is his setting up water-buckets at bus-station and railway-station during the morning hours for parched summer travellers. Now, this is an important introduction to the narration that follows. One important thing, without which this guys will be incomplete is Cricket. Yes, Cricket! Quite contrasting that an orthodox guy like him is a hardcore fan of a game - no Kabaddi, no Kushti, but Cricket.

Anecdote:

This happened when I was 12 years old. Our annual exams had ended and we were a group of rascal kids. Center used to be our favorite spot. One day Sheru[a close friend] brought a fishing stick and we headed towards the river to catch fishes. While we were going there, we met an old guy - he was murmuring 'Machclee Doobi' [Fish Sagged]. It didnt make any sense to us. We had a sheepish laugh and moved on. But that was where we missed an important sign of a soothsayer who could see the future...

The rest of it later, these hopeless bugs do take so much toil of us programmers..Uff! that's my job.
